Mastopexy, or the procedure known as the ‘breast lift,’ reconstructs the breast structure so that excess fat and skin is removed, tightening the breast tissues, giving it a ‘lifted’ appearance. The procedure is typically performed in order to reverse the effects of preganancy, breastfeeding and dramatic weight loss, which can leave the breasts lacking volume, shape and symmetry. The mastopexy will also address the tissue surrounding the nipple, or areola, which oftentimes becomes stretched due to the same effects.
